Can I connect Claude or another AI assistant to DNSense?

Account

Yes. DNSense has an MCP server. Approve the connection once, and the assistant works with your permissions until you remove it.

A consent screen asking to connect Claude, with the same access as you and revoke any time

Yes, through MCP

DNSense offers its API through MCP, the Model Context Protocol that AI assistants use to work with other software. The server address is:

https://api.dnsense.io/mcp

Add it as a custom connector or remote MCP server in your assistant. It sends you to DNSense, where you check the application and click Allow access. For assistants that take a header instead, use an API key as a Bearer token.

What it can do

The assistant acts as you. It can do what your role in your team allows, and changes that need approval still wait for approval. Its changes appear in the zone history and the audit log. Signing in, two-factor, your password and API keys are not available to it.

Remove access

The connection is an API key named after the application, for example Claude (OAuth). Open Account > API keys to disable or delete it. The assistant stops working at once.
