Terms of Service

Last updated: 24 August 2026.

Who we are

  • Direct Online, trading as DNSense
  • Zjoekowlaan 103, 2625 PL, The Netherlands
  • Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number 81002491
  • [email protected]

These terms

They apply to your use of dnsense.io and the DNSense platform. By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use DNSense.

You need to be at least 16 years old to hold an account. If you sign up for an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind it.

What DNSense does

DNSense reads and changes DNS records at the providers you connect, on your instruction. You stay the owner of your domains, zones and provider credentials, and you are responsible for the changes you schedule or approve. DNS changes propagate outside our control and can affect mail delivery, certificates and site availability, so check what you are about to publish.

We do not manage or secure the servers behind your records. Security of those servers is yours.

Your account

Keep your password and API tokens confidential. Everything done through your account is your responsibility until you tell us it is compromised. Enable two-factor authentication if your plan offers it.

We can rename an account or username that is misleading, offensive or infringes someone else's rights.

Prices and payment

Prices are shown on the pricing page in euro and include Dutch VAT where it applies. Business customers established outside the Netherlands may be invoiced under the reverse-charge rules.

Payments are handled by Mollie. Accepted methods include iDEAL, Bancontact, KBC/CBC, Belfius Direct Net, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal and Paysafecard.

Keep your billing details and card expiry current so we can complete your renewals. Subscriptions renew automatically at the start of each period until you cancel. We can change prices for future periods and will tell you at least 30 days beforehand; if you do not accept the new price, cancel before it takes effect.

Obvious pricing errors do not bind us, even after payment. In that case we will contact you and refund you in full if you no longer want the order.

Right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer you may cancel a paid subscription within 14 days of the order, without giving a reason, and get a full refund. Mail [email protected] within that period.

If you ask us to start the service during those 14 days, you can still withdraw, but we may charge you for the part already delivered. If you asked us to start immediately and expressly confirmed that you lose your right of withdrawal once the service is fully performed, that right ends at that point.

Cancelling and refunds

Cancel at any time from the subscription page in your profile. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and we do not refund the remainder of that period.

Consumers on a subscription that renews automatically can cancel at any time after the first term, with a notice period of at most one month.

Acceptable use

Do not use DNSense to break the law or someone else's rights. Specifically, do not:

  1. Change DNS records for domains you do not own or control.
  2. Scrape, harvest or systematically copy content or user data from the platform.
  3. Access the platform by bot or script outside our documented API.
  4. Probe, bypass or overload our access controls, rate limits or infrastructure.
  5. Reverse engineer, decompile or copy the software, except where mandatory law allows it.
  6. Impersonate another person, or misuse support to file false abuse reports.
  7. Upload malware or anything that disrupts the service for others.
  8. Resell or transfer your account without our written consent.

We can suspend an account immediately when use of it threatens the platform or a third party.

Availability

We aim to keep DNSense running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, provider outages and failures upstream can cause interruptions. Where we can plan maintenance, we announce it in advance.

We may change or discontinue features. For changes that materially reduce what you paid for, we will notify you at least 30 days beforehand and you can cancel and get a pro-rata refund of the unused period.

Your data

How we handle personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy and GDPR statement. Personal data is stored within the European Union.

Your zones, records and settings stay yours. We back up twice a day, but keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. We delete account data within 30 days of account closure.

Feedback

Send us ideas, bug reports or feature requests and we may use them freely to improve DNSense, without owing you a fee. You keep whatever rights you have in what you sent. Do not send us anything confidential through these channels.

Our intellectual property

The DNSense software, design, documentation and brand are ours or our licensors'. You get a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the platform for the duration of your subscription. Nothing else transfers.

Third parties

DNSense connects to DNS providers and links to third-party sites. Their terms and privacy practices are between you and them. We are not responsible for their content, availability, security or charges, including fees your provider bills you separately.

Liability

We are liable for damage caused by our intent or deliberate recklessness, and for death or personal injury, without limit. Statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

Otherwise our total liability per calendar year is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, lost revenue, missed savings, business interruption or data loss.

We are not liable for damage caused by DNS changes you instructed, by credentials you exposed, by outages at your DNS provider or hosting party, or by security incidents on servers you manage yourself.

You are liable to us for third-party claims caused by your use of DNSense in breach of these terms or the law.

Suspension and termination

We can suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, do not pay after a reminder, or use the platform in a way that harms us or others. Where the breach can be fixed, we give you a reasonable period to fix it first, unless the situation is urgent.

You can close your account at any time from your profile.

Changes to these terms

We can amend these terms. We will publish the new version here with a new date and, for material changes, email account holders at least 30 days in advance. If you do not accept a material change, cancel before it takes effect. Continued use after that date means you accept the new terms.

Complaints

Write to [email protected] or use our contact page. We reply within one working day and aim to resolve complaints within 14 days.

Governing law

Dutch law applies. Disputes go to the competent court in the district where Direct Online is established. If you are a consumer, you keep the right to bring a case before the court that the law assigns to you.

Miscellaneous

If a provision turns out to be invalid, the rest stays in force and we replace it with a valid provision that comes closest to its purpose. Not enforcing a right once does not waive it. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to a party that takes over the business, and will tell you if that happens.
